'Mary Oreta Hicks Johnson was born in the Susie community of Wayne County, June 5th, 1941 the daughter of the late Claude Rankin and Belva Eugene Rains Hicks. She departed this life Wednesday morning at the Wayne County Hospital reaching an age of 77 years.
She is survived by her daughters: Sherry Pyles of Monticello and Theresa and her husband Doug Burton of Nancy. Also surviving is her brother: Roger Dale Hicks and grandchildren: Joshua Burnett and Tiffany Hancock; great-grandchildren Scotlynn Taylor Evans, Logan Brooks Burnett and Hannah Rayne Hancock.
She is preceded in death by her brothers: Jerry Wayne Hicks and DeGarrios "Gary" Hicks.
Oreta worked for many years in the local sewing industry. She loved her flowers and making dolls and quilts for her family and friends, sewing was a big part of her life. She was a member of the Homemaker Club. She had made Christ her Lord and was an active member of the Monticello Nazarene Church.',
