'Ozie Phillips, age 88 was born in the Phillips Hollow, October 8, 1921 the son of the late Fount and Polly Whitehead Phillips. He departed this life, Saturday evening, January 23, at the Wayne County Hospital.

He was united in marriage with Elvena O. Phillips who passed away November 21, 2000. To this union seven children survive; three daughters, Ina Gedek, Clarie Casada and Beulah Martin and four sons, Thomas, Stanley, Andrew, and David Phillips. His children, Glenn, Jackie and Shirley precede him in death.

Ozie was the last surviving member of the Fount Phillips family. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Ollie Godsey, Thomas, Earnest, Osburn and Obie Phillips.

Ozie had accepted Christ as his savior at an early age and was a lifelong member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church.
