'Paul Dean Bertram Jr, age 50, of Monticello, Kentucky was born in Tell City, Indiana on August 21, 1962 the son of Paul Bertram Sr. and Phyllis Denney Bertram, who survive him. Dean passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Hospice Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset after a lengthy and courageous battle with ALS.
On May 15, 1982 he united in marriage with his wife of 31 years: Wendy Mechelle Prather, who survives him. They were blessed with three surviving children: Shaundrea and husband Chris Sims, Shane and wife Leah Bertram, and Samuel Bertram.
Also surviving him are five wonderful grandchildren: Mason, Megan and Jaxon Sims, and Hailey and Kenzie Bertram. His siblings: Charlie (Karen) Bertram, Rhonda (David) Bell, Tod (Peggy) Bertram, Melissa Bertram (Bubba Davis), and Jaimee (Heath) Duncan. Father and mother-in-law, Boyd and Betty Prather, and many uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces who will miss him dearly.
Dean\u0027s occupation was a truck driver until the onset of his illness but he was passionate about his family and loved sports. He also served his country with honor in the US Navy. He had accepted Christ as his savior at a young age and was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church.
Visitation will begin at 2pm Monday, August 19 at Beacon Hill Baptist Church with the funeral immediately following at 5pm. The funeral will be officiated by Bro. Tommy Floyd. Burial will follow at Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello.
Donations can be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Muscular Dystrophy Association or The ALS Association of Kentucky.
