Obituary

'Paul Parrigin Dunnington, age 74, was born in the Slat community of Wayne County, July 21, 1938 the son of the late Lloyd and Leona Upchurch Dunnington. He passed away Monday morning, August 20th at the Wayne County Hospital.

On August 3, 1958 he united in marriage with Kathrine Bryant Dunnington who survives. To this 54 year union two daughters survive: Mischa and her husband John Brainard of Somerset and Stephanie and husband Stephen Montrose of Georgia.

Also surviving are four grandchildren: Olivia; Audra and Molly Brainard and Dylan Montrose; two sisters: Evelyn Keeton and Joyce Mullins and two brothers: Gene and Coy Dunnington.

Paul was very interested in the progress of Monticello and Wayne County. In his lifetime of service to this community he served in the following capacity: Past President of the Monticello-Wayne County Industrial Foundation; Charter Member of the Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corp (23 years); member of the Chamber of Commerce; the Monticello Kiwanis Club (41 years); Habitat for Humanity (10 years); Founding Board Member of the Help Pregnancy Center; Securities and Insurance License (12 Years); Member of the Museum Committee (5 Years); Board Member of the Empowerment Zone (16 years); Blood Donor (30 years); Member of the Wayne County School Board; and established the first Oxford House in Wayne County.

As busy as Paul was with his secular world he always made time to serve his Lord and Savior. As a young man Paul accepted Christ as his Lord and became a member of the New Charity Baptist Church, he later united with the Monticello First Baptist Church where he was a member over 60 years. In his Christian walk Paul: sang in the choir for over 40 years and was a Deacon more than 30 years; He represented First Baptist as a member of the Executive Board of the Wayne County Association of Southern Baptist; worked in the Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief; member of the Monticello Camp of Gideons International where he was active in the Jail Ministry (15 years) and traveled abroad on 12 mission trips to Russia; Poland; Brazil; Switzerland; Nicaragua and finally Haiti.
