'Pauline Johnson Lair was born June 8th, 1925 in McCreary County, Kentucky to the late George and Elba Keith Johnson and passed away Friday evening at the Wayne County Hospital reaching the age of eighty-seven years.
On October 9th, 1948 she united in marriage to Jack Logan Lair, whom precedes her in death, and to this union two sons survive; Monte Wayne and his wife Mary Jo Lair and Kerry and his wife Debbie Lair. She is also survived by three sisters; Virginia Wright, Henritta Pack, Wilma Anderson and four brothers; Donnie, Ralph, Darrell and George Jr. Johnson along with three grandchildren; Monica Stinson, Mitchell and Kelly Lair and two great grandchildren; Allie and Andrew Stinson.
She is preceded in death by her siblings; Lucille Hicks and Coy Johnson.
In 1947, 1948 and 1949 she was employed by the Corp of Engineers Sub Office as the Wolf Creek Dam was being built and was referred to as one of the Dam Girls. She was one of the two girls that were still living. Pauline enjoyed life in the fullest as she enjoyed playing golf, serving as a volunteer at the Wayne County Hospital for many years and being with her family and friends. She retired after serving thirty-five years as secretary for the Randall Bertram Law Office.
Pauline accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior on November 14th, 1954 and was a faithful and dedicated lifetime member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary for her Sunday School Class.
She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
