Arvid Ralph Edwards, age 83, of Monticello, Kentucky passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Wayne County Hospital.
Ralph was born November 8, 1940, in Wayne County, Kentucky, He was the son of the late Earl and Hasil Asbury Edwards.
He was united in marriage to Audrey Keith on September 30, 1962. At time of his death, they had been married for over 61 years.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Audrey Edwards, his two sons, Jonathan Ralph Edwards of Monticello, Kentucky and Jeffrey Earl Edwards of Somerset, Kentucky; one brother Bobby Gale Edwards.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Hasil Edwards and his brothers, Wilmer Glen Edwards and David Lynn Edwards.
Ralph had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Immanuel Baptist Church, later in life was a member of Warsaw Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Business Moderator and started the Royal Ambassador program. He has been a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon for many years.
Ralph graduated from Wayne County High School in 1959. He earned both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He started his career in education at Gallatin County Schools in Warsaw, Kentucky as a teacher than later a Principal. He also served as Principal of Monticello Independent Schools in Monticello, Kentucky and Providence Independent Schools in Providence, Kentucky, retiring as an educator in 1995. Ralph was a Licensed Kentucky Real Estate Broker since 1978.
He was a good husband, father, brother, teacher, principal and friend to those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund or Ralph would want to encourage you to donate blood to the Kentucky Blood Center.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 11 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 14, 2024, at 2 PM at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
