'Ray Jewell was born November 8th, 1939 to late Emery and Hattie Morrow Jewell and passed away October 16th, 2011 reaching the age of seventy-one years. He united in marriage with Nancy Crabtree Jewell on May 23rd, 1963 and to this union three children survive; Melodie Phelps, Karen and her husband Jason Hicks and Sheila and her husband Mark Hughes. Also surviving are his sisters; Lena Kannapel, Barbara Tucker and JoAnn Wood, four grandchildren; Michael Ray Phelps, Cailin, Autumn and Riley Hicks and also two step-grandchildren; Malesha and Mariah Hughes.

He worked most of his life as a construction engineer for Gregory Construction after serving his country in the United States Army.

Ray had accepted Christ as his Savior many years ago and was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church.

He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
