'Robert Eugene Williams was born March 18, 1923 in Terre Haute, Indiana the son of the late Burley F. Williams and Mary L. Gilbert. He passed away Saturday evening, at his home in Monticello, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife: Margie New Williams; his step sons: Michael Punnett (Phoebe) and Wayne Punnett; step grandchildren: Jonah and Corrina Punnett all of Louisville, Kentucky. Also surviving is his sister: Joanne Peterson of Terre Haute, IN; nephew: Michael Williams of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and nieces: Madonna Nally and Donna Carpenter of Terre Haute, Indiana and Carolyn Tracz of Marietta, Georgia.
Preceding him in death were his brothers: Gerald Burley, Norman Lee and Thomas Wayne Williams and sister: Jane Lifford.
Robert served on the USS Hughes in the US Navy during World War II. He attended the Honor Flight for World War II veterans to Washington, DC on September 28, 2013. Robert retired from Government Civil Service at the Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia in 1974 and moved to the Rogers Grove community in 1991.
He was a member of the Rogers Grove Baptist Church, a life time member of the Wayne County Historical Society and Gideons. He was a former member of the Lions Club and the Lake Cumberland Car Club. His hobbies were antique cars, bee keeper and working in his orchard and traveling.
Robert was a committed Christian, devoted husband, great provider for his family, gifted singer and a friend to all he met.
