­­­­­­­­­­­Sammie Edwards was born August 23, 1947, and departed this walk of life Friday, December 26, 2025, reaching the age of 78 years. He was the son of the late Joel Tyler and Allie Mae (Creacy) Edwards.

He is survived by 1 son, Allen Sexton; 4 daughters, Pam Tucker, Peggy Ann Edwards, Krystal Renee' Edwards, and Gina Marie Edwards; 11 grandchildren, Andonn, and Brandon Tucker, Dustin Edwards, Tiffany Khan, Devin, and Dakota Edwards, Shiloh Edwards-Dykes, Joe Coleman, Lonnie Edwards, Nova and Samuel Yazell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Jean Edwards; 1 son, Sammie Lewis Edwards; 3 daughters, Ramona Jean Edwards, Susan Simmons, and Patricia Ann Edwards; and 7 brothers, Joel Tyler "J.T." Jr., Lewis, Lessly, Eugene, Malvin Ray, Lenard Dean, and Billy Raymond Edwards.

He was a loving father, grandfather, relative, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 5 PM – 8 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11 AM at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
