'Samuel Ray Denney, age 66 was born in the Catron Hollow community of Wayne County August 1st, 1940 the son of the late Horace and Minnie Dorothy Neal Denney. He departed this life suddenly, Tuesday March 20th at his home.

On March 22, 1969 he united in marriage with his wife of 38 years, Elsie Jean Catron Denney. Surviving this union is his son, Kevin and wife Amber Denney and there daughter Emma-Rae Sibyla Denney of Nashville, TN.

Also surviving are his sisters, Irene Jones and Lois Malone both of Monticello, with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Bula Corder and Oveline Flack and brother, Kay Denney.

Ray had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
