'Shelby Owen Bertram, age 76, was born on August 28, 1933 and passed on to be with his Lord on February 6, 2010. He was the son of the late Shelby Ewing Bertram and Nadine Guffey Bertram. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnetta McGinnis Bertram. He is also survived by sons, Terry (Marsha) and Tim (Bronda) Bertram and six grandchildren; Hannah Bertram, Daniel Bertram, Rachel Bertram, Tyler Pace, Travis Pace and Kanon West all of Monticello. He is also survived by four sisters; Glenda Kinnett of Monticello, Ruth (Edward) Ramsey of Albany, Nina (Danny) Williams of Nickelsville, Virginia and Brenda (NN) Smith of Bullard, Texas. He is also survived and remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews.
Owen served his Lord as a faithful member of First Baptist Church and was a Deacon for many years. He was also actively involved in Emmaus Ministries. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the Army from June 1953 until May 1955. He was a lifelong resident of Wayne County where he established his Windy Hills Dairy Farm in 1959. He served as director for Dairymen, Inc. as well as serving with Farm Service Agency, Kentucky Farm Bureau, Lions Club and many other civic organizations.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Mountain View Baptist Camp or the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Visitation:
From 5 to 9 PM Tuesday in the Funeral Home Chapel and 9 to 11 AM Wednesday at the First Baptist Church.
