'Sylvia Strunk, 78, passed away surrounded by her loving family at 12:15pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Homeview Health and Rehab in Franklin, Indiana. She was born August 16, 1933 in Cedar Hill, Kentucky to the late Charles and Lura (Keith) Denney and preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lucille and Birdie Denney. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Clovis E Strunk with whom she has 6 surviving children: Marcia and Mark Maulden (WA), Gary Strunk (CA), Robin English (IN), Teresa and Steve Hardwick (IN), Lisa and James Johnson (CA), and Michelle Smith (CA).

Sylvia had a varied work life as a hairdresser, motel owner and a district manager for Circle K Corporation. She loved to travel, read, sew and crochet but her passion in life was her family. She spent all her spare time caring and tending to them in one way or another. She loved 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Other survivors include her brothers and sisters:Mitt Denney (FL), Cassie Arthur (FL), Mike Denney (MO), Bryan Denney (FL), Harriett Cummings (IN) and Twyleah Mitcham (MI).

Funeral services will be 11:00am on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Hickey and Son Funeral Home in Monticello, Ky with JS New officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Baptist Church. Memorial contributions in honor of Sylvia can be made to The National Alzheimer-s Association or to Homeview Health and Rehab Activities Fund in Franklin, IN.
