Obituary

'Beatrice Hammond Edwards was born April 8, 1932, in the Fannie Branch area of Wayne County. She departed this life May 22, 2011 reaching the age of 79. She was the youngest of 11 children born to Mart and Elsie Correll Keith. Her dad and mom, as well as all her siblings, preceded her in death. Those siblings were: Romer, Coy, Paul, Roy, and Bonnie Keith, Minnie Wright, Emie and Pollie Branscum, Onie and Mildred Phillips. She was united in marriage to Warren Hammond on August 5, 1947. To this union were born four children: Michael Hammond, (wife Linda) of Somerset, KY, Leroy Hammond, (wife Leta) of Monticello, KY, Brenda Goodwin, (husband Tommy (deceased) of Monticello KY, and Larry Hammond, (wife Deanna) of Monticello, KY. Mrs. Edwards has six step children, Larry Joe, Barbara, Ronnie Edwards, Betty Bogart,Debbie and Judy Edwards both deceased. She had nine grand kids, Richard and Mark Hammond, Rebecca Taylor, Mary Ann Bidwell, Regina Lou Hammond (deceased), India Prater, Brian Goodwin, Missy Garner, and Angela Mansfield. Mrs Edwards had twelve great grandchildren, Latosha Taylor, Austin Hammond, Amber, Stacey, Tiffany, Johnna and John David Bidwell, Esther Prater, Trevor and Matt Garner, and Jonathan Mansfield. Beatrice Hammond was united in marriage on January 1, 1997 to Carl Edwards, who survives. She was saved as a young girl at Wolfe Ridge in McCreary County where she grew up. She had a strong belief in God and the Bible. She taught her children and grandchildren to go to church, be a good neighbor, and work hard. She was a faithful member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church for many years. She also was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church for a few years. Mrs. Edwards grew up working on farms in McCreary and Wayne County. She worked 25 years in local shirt factories. As a democrat she served for about 30 years as an election officer at Brokade

precinct. She was the assistant county chairman for the Democratic party of Wayne County for four years. She enjoyed her flower gardens and her chickens, as well as her dogs and cats. She leaves a multitude of family and friends who will greatly miss her.
