'Thomas Isaac -Ike- better known as Ike Powell, age 79 passed away Sunday, January 10th, 2010.
He is survived by his wife Lois Powell and three sons, Dale, George and Tommy Powell all of Monticello and one daughter, Cathy Huff of Oneida, Tennessee.
He is also survived by two sisters, Ora Thompson of Springville, Indiana and Cora Roberts of Stearns, Kentucky and fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents George Harrison and Nanny Ethyl Powell and two brothers, Hubert Powell of Monticello and Hobert Powell of Springville, Indiana. Also preceding him in death is one infant son, Ronnie Gene Powell.
He was united in marriage to Lois Davis on March 22, 1950.
He had accepted Christ and was an active participant at Big Springs Baptist Church. He was a corporal in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
He was an avid fan of Wayne County Football and was an assistant coach and trainer for the team for over 30 years. He was affectionately know as -Doc- on the football field.
