Obituary

'Vernon W. Dick was born May 6, 1917 and passed away April 4th, 2016 at the Wayne County Hospital.

He was the son of the late Charley and Ella Gregory Dick. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Barnes; two grandchildren, Greg (Danielle) Barnes and Kathy (Dusty) Vinson; three great-grandchildren, Carley and Cuyler Vinson and Hattie Barnes; two sisters-in-law, Vera Turpin and Betty Decker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ina; daughters, Wilma and Rina Kay; Son-in-law, Hugh E. Barnes, Jr.; brothers, Elbert, infant brother, Herbert and Clyde; sisters, Gertie Dodson, Mae Ramsey, Derlie Anderson and Etta Ferrell. He was also preceded in death my many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Big Sinking Baptist Church, where he served many years as trustee.

He served in the Army during WWII. He was stationed in England and France. He received an AME Theater Ribbon, 2 Bronze Stars, American Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.

Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Gideon Bible Memorial Plan or to the Big Sinking Baptist Church.

Visitation:
5 to 8 PM Wednesday in the Funeral Home Chapel

11 AM Thursday in the Chapel of the Funeral Home
