Virginia Fields, cousin of Carolyn Stringer was born on July 3rd, 1924 in Grundy, Virginia, the daughter of the late Henry and Amanda Thompson Fields. She Departed this life on Thursday, November 2nd,2023 at the age of 99 years.
She was preceded in death by two sisters; Jettie Farmer and Lydia Rasnake, and one brother; Edison Fields.
She is survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Virginia came to Monticello in 1942, where she lived with her uncle and aunt Wallace and Neva Fields and cousins, Carolyn, and George Fields. After finishing High School at Wayne County, she worked for Dr. Robert Breeding for twenty-five years and then for Dr. Patel for twenty-seven years.
She was a long-time member of the Monticello First Baptist Church where she served as a choir member and taught Sunday School for many years. She also worked with the youth, VBS, Love Ministry programs, helped start the Puppet Mission Program and even went on a mission trip to Russia in her 80's.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 10th from 11AM until 1PM in the funeral home chapel with funeral services to follow at 1PM. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Monticello First Baptist Church or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
