Obituary

'William Fred Barnes was born June 26, 1931 the son of the late James William and Hanna Alice Patton Barnes. He departed this life July 11th in the Homestead Post Acute Facility in Lexington reaching an age of 87 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Dalton Barnes.
He was united in marriage with Doris Elaine Hurt and to this union three children survive: William Edison Barnes, Freda Elain Morrow and Ralph Edward Barnes.
Also surviving are his grandchildren: Derek Clinton Wilkins, Heather LeAnne Graves, Lori Aaron Davis, Lindsey Paige Barnes, Shawn Patrick Morrow, Megan Danielle Morrow, and Kyle Shannon Morrow; eight great grandchildren and two step children: Jacqueline Yvonne Muse and David Kerry Lee and one sister, Alice Florence Smith.
He is preceded in death by his siblings: Dorsey Evalee Smith, Mary Ella Barnes, Anna Jane Smith, Lena Jones, Vena Barnes, Neva Etheline Barnes and James Earl Barnes.
Fred was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star; was a multi term member of the Wayne County School Board and the bass voice with Victory Singers. Fred had accepted Christ as his Lord and served him as a faithful member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Choir Leader.',
