'William Sam Chriswell was born in the Burfield community of Wayne County, November 1, 1929 the son of the late Finley and Polly Chriswell. He passed away February 27, 2015 at the Wayne County Hospital.

On August 14, 1950 he married Christine Coffey and spent 58 years together before her passing May 30, 2009. To this union three children were born. Surviving is his daughter: Mary Lois and husband Eugene Roberts and his son: William Junior and wife Ann Chriswell. His son: Bobby and his wife Lois Ann precedes him in death. Surviving are his nieces and nephews that found a place in his home; Susette Bolt, Lewis Alvin, Sammy and Steven Coffey.

Surviving are his grandchildren, Katina (Jeffrey) Shearer, Kalisa (Jeff) Hay, Kasey (Kelly Jo) Chriswell and Kelly Sue (Chris) Goff, Darin (Chas), Stuart (Donyale) and Tyler (Aubree) Chriswell, Chris (Laura) and Eli Roberts. Seventeen great-grandchildren: Trevor, Nicholas \u0026 Emily Shearer; Brennan, Brylee and Braydon Chriswell; Matthew Mills \u0026 Jacob Hay; Ethan \u0026 Madelyn Royalty; Ariel, Gabriel, Isaiah Roberts, Xavier and Knox Goff, Collin and Connor Chriswell. His great granddaughter, Kelsey Ann Chriswell, passed away February 2, 2011.

Also surviving are his nieces; Ina Mae (George) Neal, Wanda Sue Troxell and Patty (Doug) Bell and special family: Ray and Sally Kidd; Brian, Amy and Brady Kidd; Brooke, Brandon Denny, Parker and Jake Young; Brittany, Landon, Carlee, Paislee and Brodee Elam.
